Alejandro Chaskielberg began his career as a photojournalist, working in local newspapers and magazines, but soon realized he wanted to showcase images not possible within the media. At the same time he was finishing his cinematography studies at the National Film Institute of Argentina.

Alejandro Chaskielberg began his career as a photojournalist, working in local newspapers and magazines, but soon realized he wanted to showcase images not possible within the media. At the same time he was finishing his cinematography studies at the National Film Institute of Argentina. He left photojournalism and made a stint as a musician, playing the violin at the classical music conservatory during four years. He returned to the visual world, directing documentaries for the public television of Buenos Aires. Since 2006 he has started exhibiting his photographs and he won the Currriculum Cero Award, one of the most prestigious awards for young artist in Argentina. In 2008 he was invited to participate in the National Geographic All Roads photography program. Chaskielberg has received numerous awards, including Talent Latent as a part of Spain’s SCAN´09 Festival. In 2009 he was the recipient of the BURN online magazine Emerging Photographer Grant supported by the Magnum Foundation, the Leopold Godowsky Jr. award from the Boston University and also named one of PDN magazine’s 30 New and emerging photographers to watch. In 2010 he was invited to exhibit at the Brighton Photo Biennial in the UK, curated by the photographer Martin Parr.
