Amber George is a painter and printmaker. Living in a rural artist community in northern San Diego County, her property and her surroundings continue to inspire her today, just as being in nature did as a child. Her work is informed by her observations of nature. Whether in her garden or on a sailboat, her eye is keen to search out shapes and patterns in nature. Growing up in California, she studied art from an early age. She spent her summers around her family in the Midwest, most who were raised on farms. Family vacations were spent camping, horseback riding in the Rockies and being outside. She attributes these experiences to her profound love of nature and plants. Amber George received her BA in Fine Art from UCLA in 1994. She studied with some of the most notable contemporary artists in Los Angeles, including Lari Pittman and Nancy Rubins. In addition to private collections across the US, her work is also included in numerous corporate collections. Her work has received additional attention from writers and gallery owners. Her painting Parasol Landscape was featured in the 2008 book Embracing Encaustic written by Linda Womack. She was invited to participate in the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art's Art Auction 2008. Ms. George was also included in the 3rd Annual Encaustic Invitational, a national invitational exhibition of encaustic work at the Conrad Wilde Gallery in Tucson Arizona, considered by many to be some of the most accomplished work being created in encaustic today.
