Matthew Sleeth (b. 1972) is an Australian artist who lives and works between Melbourne and New York. His practice is conceptually driven across a range of media, including photography, video, sculpture and public installation. His work is widely collected and has been exhibited throughout Australia and internationally including; New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Cologne, Berlin, Venice and exhibited as part of a number of international events including the Berlin Photography Festival, Odense Photo Biennale (Denmark), Noorderlicht PhotoFestival (Netherlands), the Venice Architecture Biennale, Art Chicago and the Melbourne International Arts Festival. In March 2008 a touring exhibition opened at the Aperture Gallery in New York to coincide with the publication of a monograph Ten Series/106 Photographs. In 2005/6 Matthew lived in Tokyo as part of the Australia Councils studio residency program and was named as one of Australias 50 most collectable artists by Art Collector magazine in 2006 and 2008. His book Tour of Duty was included in The Photobook: A History volume 2 (Phaidon, London, 2006) by Martin Parr and Gerry Badger. Matthews work is held in the collections of the National Gallery of Victoria, the National Library of Australia, State Libraries of NSW, Victoria, and Queensland, Monash Gallery of Art, Monash University of Modern Art, the National Portrait Gallery, Brandts Museet for Fotokunst (Odense, Denmark) and various private collections including the Corrigan Collection, Hewson Collection, Mallesons Stephen Jaques and Deutsche Bank. His books include Ten Series/106 Photographs (2007), Opfikon (2004), Survey (2004), home+away (2003), Tour Of Duty (2002), The Bank Book (2001), Roaring Days (1998) and artist books Office (2008), Red China (2005) and Call Of The Wild (2004).
