Albarrán BourdaisEurope

Pioneering and passionate, Christian Bourdais and Eva Albarran have been working with the key players in architecture and contemporary art for over fifteen years. At the head of a leading production company in Paris specialized in contemporary art (eva-alba- rran.com) and founders of Solo Houses (solo-houses.com), an on-going project of contemporary small resort-prototype houses conceived by a New Garde of international young architects, Christian Bourdais and Eva Albarran manage a Contemporary Art Gallery in Madrid, Galeria Albarrán Bourdais. Galería Albarrán Bourdais works with leading contemporary artists such as Christian Boltanski, Bertrand Lavier, Iván Argote, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Carlos Amorales, Adel Abdessemed, Felice Varini, Ugo Rondinone and Angelika Markul. With the opening of Galería Albarrán Bourdais in Madrid, Eva’s hometown, Eva and Christian want to offer these artists a gateway to the Spanish and Latin American markets, of which the vitality is indisputable. The gallery’s purpose is not only to operate as an exhibiting space, but also to further their art production experience in order to display its artworks in unex- pected places, through collaborations and the use of the Solo Houses sites as places of artistic expression and open-air exhibitions. Galería Albarrán Bourdais project seeks to promote major projects outside the gallery space, especially with artists from the international art scene. Their purpose is to promote the artists’ work outside the Spanish borders, through International Art Fairs or collaborations with institutions all over the world. Their experience with Shanghai cultural scene with the main exhibition at PSA by Christian Boltanski in spring 2018 and recently an important art commission by Felice Varini for Galeries Lafayette Shanghai, raised their links and interest towards this promising and rich cultural scene. Four outstanding artists form the international art scene make up the proposal designed for West Bund Art & Design by the gallery; Christian Boltanski (Paris, 1944), Adel Abdessemed (Constantine, Algeria, 1971), Felice Varini (Locarno, 1952) and Fernando Sánchez Castillo (Madrid 1970).
