Marta Barrenechea
Marta Barrenechea has her own unique, almost indefinable style. We discovered her canvases and drawings in an exhibition at the Ángel Romero gallery in Madrid over ten years ago. Her work simultaneously has qualities of naivety and profoundness, simplicity and constancy, and it is always marked with her clear personal stamp. We hosted her first solo exhibition with us was in 2014. Since then we have seen her work steadily become much more concrete and defined. Barrenechea includes fragments of embroidery in her canvases with different motifs such as bows, flowerpots or blankets. Then, around those, she composes the rest of the work. On this occasion, we present a selection of her latest creations on canvas and paper. The exhibition, which opened on December 3, 2020, continues until February 20, 2021.
